Arrival: Delhi India > Departure: Beijing China

Arrival at Delhi

Delhi is the starting point of our trip which is the capital city of India. You will be flying from your country to Delhi. After landing, you need to go through the various documents tasks where you have to follow the customs and show the required documents to the authority.

After completing the check-out processes, you will see our Indian representatives at the airport, who will escort you to the Hotels where you will be staying for night.

Delhi Tour

After enjoying breakfast early in the morning, we will explore the old and new Delhi. Both towns are rich in sightseeing. The streets of the old town are incredibly attractive, which is crowded with Rickshaw and the street vendors. Also, in the center of old Delhi, you can explore red fort from the Moghul era, Chandi Chowk (Main bazaar of the old Delhi), Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid Mosque etc.

In New Delhi, you can stroll around the Government building and India Gate around Connaught place where numerous modern shopping centers are located. Outside the center, you can visit Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, Bahai Temple (Lotus Shaped Temple) etc. We can enjoy driving in auto-rickshaws and taxis in the crowded streets.

After the long sightseeing of the historical and modern places of New and old Delhi, you will be transferred to a hotel where you will be served ethnic Indian dishes. After having dinner, you will directly go to bed.

Delhi - Agra

Today, we will drive to Agra via Fatehpur Sikri. At the ghost town of Fatehpur Sikri, we will stop for the rest and lunch. We will also explore this town. After our arrival at Agra, we will check in to the hotel and spend our leisure time wandering around the city. We will explore the Mausoleum of Mumtaz (wife of Moghvorst Shah Jahan) and enjoy the atmosphere around the surrounding area.

Agra Fort on the bank of Yamuna River is exceedingly popular for the mosques, built of marble. So, we will walk around the old town of Agra where Agra fort is located to visit the different mosques having historical values. You can also enjoy the rickshaw ride in Agra. However, to avoid the heavy price, be sure to set the price beforehand the ride.

Agra night train to Varanasi

Today, we will visit the major attraction of Agra i.e., Taj Mahal which is popular throughout the world. It was built by Shah Jahan and Sunrise illuminates the entire Taj Mahal in the morning which will surely make you smile. Besides this, we will also visit the tomb of Akbar located at the town of Sikandra.
After a full day exploring Agra, we will go to the hotel and pack a backpack to catch the night train from Agra to Varanasi. It takes around 11 hours to reach Varanasi by Train.

Arrival at Varanasi

After the long hour train trip, we will arrive at Varanasi which is one of the most attractive cities in India. However, instead of exploring the oldest cities of the world, we will check-in to the hotel to take shower and rest for a while.

We will take a short excursion to nearby Sarnath after taking rest for a while. It is believed that Buddha gives his first lessons in the deer park of Sarnath. We can also wander around the street vendor and observe the people before heading towards the hotel for dinner.

Varanasi Sightseeing

Today we will visit the Ganges River early in the morning. Varanasi is popular all over the world for its magical Ganges River. Greater Himalayas provide the cruise on this river early in the morning. You can also take the bath in Ganges during sunrise. It is believed that taking a bath in this river will wash away all of your sin and pain.

You can also stroll around the bank of the river as it provides a vibrant spectacle and makes your morning beautiful and fresh. Also, Varanasi is famous for fortune tellers. So, you can also have your fortune told by real gurus and can even enjoy head massage at Ghat. This city has many confusing alleys and the road is also sometimes blocked by the sacred cow.

Shivajiinagar to Chitwan

Today we will cross the border and drive to Chitwan to explore Nepal. As soon as we reach the hotel, we will take a rest for a while. In the evening, we will wander around the city and explore the lifestyle, traditions, and culture of the local Tharu people of Nepal.
You can explore the local villages made of mud by walking or riding a bicycle. You will be amazed by the hospitality provided by the Nepalese people. You can also walk on the bank of the Rapti River. In the evening, you will be served ethnic Nepalese dishes and you can also enjoy the cultural program of Tharu.

Exploring Chitwan National Park

Today we will enjoy the jungle safari in this park. We will observe the varied flora and fauna. We will walk through the dense lush forests. You can also travel the forest on the back of an Elephant (Elephant Safari). Swimming and taking baths with elephants are other major attractions of this day.


This Park is suitable for those who enjoy bird watching as more than 640 species of birds are found here including Swamp Francolin, Grey-crowned Prinia, etc. You can also find around 160 migrant birds in this park.
This Park is also incredibly famous for canyoneering in Rapti River, watching gharial crocodiles and dolphins, etc. We will also visit the Chitwan National Park Museum at Kasara and Gharial Breeding Center. We can witness the beautiful sunrise and sunset views from the Narayani River.

Chitwan to Kathmandu

After enjoying the last breakfast in Chitwan, we will drive towards the main city of Nepal i.e., Kathmandu. We will reach there within 5-6 hours long drive. We will immediately transfer to the hotel after reaching Kathmandu where we will rest for a while.


After resting for a while, we will roam around Kathmandu city. We will explore the bustling Thamel and Indrachowk Bazaar. You can buy souvenirs from this place at an affordable price. Similarly, you can taste spicy food in Ason. If time allows us, then we will explore the Garden of Dream where a lot of couples visit regularly to share love and happiness.
In the evening, you will be offered ethnic and cultural Nepalese dishes. If possible, you can also get a chance to enjoy the Nepalese program.

Sightseeing in Kathmandu

We will explore the capital city of the Kingdom of Nepal to the fullest and capture some of the unforgettable experiences of our life. This city is also known as the 'City of the Temple' because it has numerous temples, pagodas, and shrines.
Early in the morning, we will visit the Hindu Temple, Pasupatinath. It is exceedingly popular throughout the world for both Hindu and Buddhist Pilgrims. You can observe the cremations on the sacred Bagmati River. We can also have conversations with the Sadus in the temple.


In Kathmandu, we will also explore the two major Buddhist stupas - Swaymbunath and Boudhanath. Swayambhumath is also known as a 'monkey temple'. From this stupa, we can see the beautiful view of Kathmandu valley and its surrounding.
Similarly, Boudhanath is another major attraction to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. It has been a shelter for Tibetan refugees for a long time. We can observe the melodious tone, flapping prayer flags, and wheels, Mani walls carved with Buddhist mantras, Thangkas, etc.


We will also explore Kathmandu Durbar Square which is in the center of the city. In this Durbar Square, you can visit religious places like Taleju Temple, Jagannath Temple, Kumari Goddess Temple, Kal Bhairav, Statue of King Pratap Malla, etc.
From Kathmandu Durbar Square, we will drive further towards Patan Durbar Square which is less crowded than Kathmandu, and follow their own culture and traditions. This palace is famous for Krishna Mandir and other stone designs, temples, and stupas. You can also observe religious sculptures in this city.

Kathmandu to Nagarkot

Today we will drive towards Nagarkot via Bhaktapur. Bhaktapur is an impressive city of Nepal that has a lot of confusing alleys. Bhaktapur Durbar Square and pottery square are worth visiting in this city. This city has beautiful arts and architecture from the medieval period. We will visit Nyatapola Temple, Bhaktapur Nation Gallery, and 55 window palaces.


Bhaktapur is the oldest city where Newer has been residing for an exceptionally long time by preserving their culture and religions. So, we will also observe locals and their lifestyles. We will also visit Bhaktapur Changu Narayan which is one of the oldest temples in Nepal. After spending a while sightseeing in Bhaktapur, we will drive upwards towards Nagarkot.
Nagarkot is 34km away from Kathmandu. We can enjoy the sunset view from the height of this hill station. Similarly, we can also get the panoramic view of high peaks such as Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m) Cho Oyu (8,201m), etc.

Nagarkot to Gyirong

Highlights: Sunrise view from Nagarkot, crossing the border at Gyirong Observing grazing Yak and Small Himalayan villages from Langtang Valley Nepal.

 

Nagarkot is extremely popular for views of sunrise and sunset. So, we will wake up early in the morning to observe the beautiful sunrise view over the Himalayas from the top of the hill station. After enjoying the early view, we will enjoy our breakfast and drive towards the high Tibetan plateau.

After Nagarkot, we will go to the beautiful Gyirong border between Rashuwagadi Nepal side and the Village of Tibet enjoying the view of the Himalayas and landscape via Trisuli, Dhunche, and Syabrubesi (which is also a popular gateway to Langtang Valley trek). Then after immigration formalities, we will drive 25 km from the border and spend the night in gyirong known as Kerung. This town is inhabited by Tibetans, Nepalese, and Han Chinese.

Acclimatization in Gyirong and Explore around

On this day, we will explore around a couple of monasteries and caves, hike a bit to get acclimatize because from the next day we will be gradually getting to a higher altitude.

Gyirong to Old Tingri

Max. Altitude: 4,348m (Tingri)

Highlights: Crossing Gyirong La Pass, and Enjoying the View of Mt. Everest, Shishapangma

 

In the morning, we will cross Gyirong Port and Pass and drive to Tingri. Be sure to layer the clothes because thin air passing through the windows will make you cold. If the weather is clear, then you can witness the bird-eye view of Mt. Everest (8,848m) which is the highest peak in the world. The Tibetan side of Mt. Everest is equally magnificent as the Nepal side. We will pass across the Gyirong La watching the magnificent view of landscape, mountains, Pikusto lake (which is the point to get separated to go to Mt. Kailas and the other side to Lhasa) and go to Tingri.


In Tingri, we will stay in a basic Tibetan guesthouse. You can't expect to have a shower and an attached bathroom in these guesthouses. However, the design of the room is attractive, with painted walls and furniture. Similarly, the beds in the room are equipped with thick blankets. You will also have the facilities of thermos in each room.

Tingri to Shigatse

From Tingri, we will drive to the second beautiful city of Tibet, Shigatse. The meaning of the name is 'Beautiful Place' as the atmosphere of the environment is very lovely and impressive.
You can visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery which is the home to the Panchen Lama. It was built in 1447 for the Dalai Lama where political leaders organized their meetings to discuss the country's affairs. In the old days, 3000 monks used to live in this monastery but today only 600 monks reside there.
In this monastery, you can observe the monks clad in their traditional dress. Similarly, you can attend the evening prayer. Remember to taste the cup of tea made up of yak butter which is an immensely popular Tibetan drink and has a special flavor.
Besides the monastery, the Tibetan market of Shigatse is worth visiting. You can stroll around the market and buy local Tibetan products as a souvenir for your loved ones. Also, you can observe the old fort of this town which resembles the history of Tibet.

Shigatse to Gyantse

In the morning, we will drive further to Gyantse for around 2 hours. On the way, we can observe the cultivable lands. In this small town, we can experience the authentic Tibetan culture which is still untouched and intact from the Chinese culture and traditions. During past days, this town used to be a resting place for wool traders while traveling to India.
This town is popular for the beautiful fortress and a lot of monasteries. Among all the monasteries, Kumbum Stupa which is 114ft high is the major attraction of this town. Inside this attractive building, we can observe ancient murals and sculptures. We will also visit the Manla Dam Lake and Pelkor Chode Monastery.

Gyantse to Lhasa

After breakfast, we will start our thrilling drive towards Lhasa. It takes around 5-6 hours to reach Lhasa. On the way, we can enjoy the views of snow-capped peaks and a glacier. We can also see the beautiful sacred Yamdrok Tso Lake which is turquoise in shape.
We will continue our drive alongside the flapping prayer flags and wheels, Mani walls, murals, etc. which will give you an aura of a spiritual journey to Lhasa. After enjoying the dramatic Himalayan landscapes and sacred Buddhist objects, we will arrive at Lhasa.


Lhasa holds important significance to both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. In the evening, we will roam around the city area and enjoy the ethnic Tibetan dishes for dinner.

Exploring Lhasa

The next three days of the Tibet tour will give you unforgettable memories as you will be exploring one of the highest cities in the world, Lhasa (3,656m). This city has been the religious and administrative capital of Tibet since the mid-17th century.
Lhasa is the holiest city in the world for Tibetan people. This city has become the most visited place in the world as one can feel the essence of exotic Tibetan culture, Tibetan dishes, get to know about the history of Tibet, interact with the friendly locals, etc.


One of the most visited places of Lhasa is the red and white Potala Palace which is situated in the high hill and is the center of Lhasa. This building is extremely attractive and used to be the winter palace of the Dalai Lama.
Namtso Lake is another must-visit place of Lhasa that is a half-day drive away from the city. This lake is immensely popular for hiking and photography. Surrounded by the vibrant and flapping prayer flags, this lake has turquoise-like blue water and gives heavenly feelings while strolling on the bank of this lake.
Jokhang Temple, the oldest sacred shrine of Tibetan pilgrims, is located at the center of Lhasa. Many pilgrims from around the world visit this temple and pray by bending their bodies and touching the holy land by forehead. The statue of Shakyamuni is worshipped at the main hall of this temple.


On our three days stay at Lhasa, we will also visit Norbulingka Park which is decorated with colorful flowers and consists of a few palaces. It used to be the summer residence of the Dalai Lama. Many Tibetan festivals are celebrated in this place such as Lantern Festival, Shoton festival, etc.


We will also visit the Princess Wencheng Drama where there are live performances of drama, music, dance, etc. held from time to time. We will also roam around Barkhor Street which is popular for shopping. You can also buy souvenirs for your loved ones from this street.
Lhasa is home to several Buddhist monasteries such as Ganden monastery, Drepung monastery, Sera monastery, Rating monastery, etc. where we can notice the pristine Tibetan Buddhism and enjoy the evening prayer held by monks living inside the palace. Similarly, we will also enjoy some of the authentic and delicious Tibetan dishes and interested one can also participate in cooking classes.

Lhasa to Xian by Train

After three long days of exploring Lhasa, we will prepare ourselves for our next exciting destination towards Xian via Train. It takes around 33 hours to reach Xian Railway station from Lhasa Railway Station. We will reach Xian via Golmud and Xining. Despite the long train journey, the Tibetan Plateau will be worth remembering for a lifetime.
We will travel through the green grass plains and snowy passes to reach Xian. The railway of Lhasa was built recently which is based on modern style and techniques. On the way, we can observe the yaks and children with smiling faces waving the trains. Similarly, we can also get a glimpse of the mountain range. We will use the hard sleeper class on the train.

Arrival at Xian

As soon as we arrive at Xian, we will check in to the hotel. It will be evening when we reach Xian so we will check-in to the hotel and take a rest for a while.

Xian Tour

Xian is one of the highly populated towns of Tibet. This town was the entrance point of the Silk Road during the old days. After having breakfast, we will visit an old Muslim Quarter just behind the Drum Tower in the center of this town. We will also explore a mosque complex with vibrant gardens.
We will also visit the Provincial Museum near the south wall of Xian where one can observe the collection of oldest Chinese arts and architectures including pottery. We will visit many small and large ancient Buildings of China (Goose Pagoda) outside of the walls.
The best part of the Xian exploration is the Terracotta Warriors which is famous in the entire world. It was the first Yellow Emperor of China; Qin Shihuang, who represented the history of China. This place was discovered only in 1974 by the farmers which cover 30 miles of distance from outside of the town.

Xian to Beijing by Night Train

In the morning, we will explore the rest of the places of Xian. We will take a walk in the streets of this town and visit many arts and antique shops. Surrounded by thick walls, you can enjoy cycling in the old city of Xian.
We will also visit the old bell tower from where the pleasant view of the town can be caught. We will visit some of the ancient shops where you can buy souvenirs for your loved ones. After spending half a day exploring Xian, we will return to the hotel, enjoy dinner, and pack the luggage for further journey. We will catch the night train from Xian to Beijing.

Arrival at Beijing

Beijing is the capital city of China which is populated with more than 15 million of population. This city is noticeably big and the Beijing tour is easily accessible by subway, taxi, and van. We can easily reach from one destination to another around Beijing town in a fleeting time by taxi.


After arriving in Beijing, we will check in to the hotel and rest for a while. We will explore the Forbidden City at the center of Beijing which is north of Tiananmen Square. It is the largest imperial palace in the world where we will observe the ancient gardens, valuable arts, and architecture, living of the imperial and quarters of the government.
We will also visit the Mausoleum of Mao and the great hall of people which is located around Tiananmen Square. Beihai Park is another attraction of Beijing which is located behind the Forbidden City. We can enjoy boating in the lake of Beijing with the local residents.

Beijing Tour - The Day in Great Wall

Today we will explore the rest of the place of Beijing. We will visit Hutong which used to be a famous neighborhood in Beijing. Similarly, this city is immensely popular for historical monuments such as the Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, etc. The Temple of Heaven is built by wood only which consists of numerous buildings built in supreme symmetry. During Ming and Qing dynasties, emperors used to worship the god and pray for a good harvest in this temple.
We will also visit the Summer Palace where we will enjoy boating on Kunming Lake, enjoy the Chinese performance in the old theater and walk around the Long Corridor. We also explore the Ming Tomb which carries the history of Beijing. In this tomb, 13 emperors of the Ming dynasty were buried. We will also visit the Lama Temple on the northeast of the city.
We will travel to see the Great Wall of China which is the largest wall in the world. We will enjoy the nature walk around this masterpiece by enjoying the surrounding scenery. In the evening, we will also visit the Chinese Opera. After a long day of exploration, we will get back to the hotel and enjoy dinner with all the members of the tour and celebrate the last day of our India, Nepal, Tibet, and Beijing tours.

Departure from Beijing China

Today is the last day of our Asia Tour where our office representatives will pick you from the hotel and drop you at the airport in Beijing. We will manage all the documents for your flight to your home country. With the hope of serving, you again in the future, Greater Himalaya will bid you goodbye and a happy journey.
 

Accommodation

Accommodation in India, Nepal, Tibet, and Beijing Tour

The accommodation during our India, Nepal, Tibet, and Beijing tours is in a homely and pleasant environment. During the modern and popular town visit, we will be staying in a 3-star hotel where you can get access to air conditioning, an attached bathroom, and a shower. Sometimes, we will also be staying in a farmhouse and resort where you can experience living in uncrowded and green lands.

In some of the towns like Nyalam and Tingri, you will stay in simple guesthouses where there are no facilities of shower and attached bathroom but the rooms are clean and well-equipped with the needed facilities. In the big city, you can also get access to the swimming pool in the hotel. 

 

Meals in India, Nepal, Tibet, and Beijing Tour

Since you are going on a trip to 4 different places, you will get a variety of foods to taste. In India, you can enjoy the spicy Thali (Plate) dishes such as rice, bread, lassie, yogurt drink, etc. You can also enjoy street foods like simple snacks pani puri, chatpatey, aloo-chat, etc.

 

In Nepal, you can enjoy authentic Nepalese food such as Dhidho and Gundruk. Besides these, you can also find the western and oriental dishes such as dal, vat, rice, dumplings, Thukpa, pizzas, burgers, Thai, french fries, etc. Indian and Chinese dishes are also easily available in Nepal.

 

In Tibet, you can enjoy dumplings and Thukpa as it is a famous dish of this city. Besides this, you can also enjoy the yak cheese and dried yak meat. Chinese dishes are also available in Tibet.

 

China has a variety of cuisine. Each town has its own cultural food. Peking duck is incredibly famous in Beijing. Chopsticks are used to eat food rather than spoons. Tea is widely drunk in China. Yak butter tea is a famous drink in China which has a salty taste.
