Overview

Langtang Trek also referred to as Langtang Valley Trek is the most popular and visited trekking route of Nepal following the Everest Base Camp (EBC) and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). This trek is easily accessible from Kathmandu and is quite short hence making it viable for 2 trekkers. Trekking to Langtang valley will expose you to peaks Like Ganesh Himal (7600 meters), Langtang Lirung (7227meters), etc.

Langtang Valley Trek is ideal for those adventure enthusiasts looking for an off-the-beaten-path. The lush rhododendron and pine forests along the trail, exquisite waterfalls, incomparable mountains vistas all wait for you in this trek. Located in the second largest national park of Nepal (the Langtang National Park), this trek promises you a perfect viewpoint like Kyanjin Ri (4850 meters) which provides you spectacular panoramas of Langtang valley.

Arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport: Overnight in Kathmandu

After picking you from Tribhuvan International Airport (following your arrival), one of the representatives of the staff of Greater Himalaya will escort you to a predetermined hotel room that is booked for you. After getting refreshed, you can visit the vivacious streets of Thamel. We will host a welcome dinner for you and also debrief you about the trekking.

Explore the historical sites of Kathmandu: Overnight in Kathmandu

Today you shall go on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley and witness that Kathmandu is a very cultural and religious city at its essence or core. We will arrange a proficient guide for exploring the UNESCO World heritage sites. You will visit Pashupatinath- a 2500 years old temple located at the banks of the holy Bagmati river. This temple is visited by Hindu pilgrims all over the world. Others on the “to visit list” today are Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Patan Durbar Square. All these sites are known for their mind-blowing architectures, religious significance, and rich history. We will also assist you in purchasing or renting trekking gear if needed.

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi (1460 meters): Overnight in Syabru Besi

We will leave Kathmandu for a time being and set towards Syabru Besi. Syabru Besi is a gateway to almost every Langtang and Gosaikunda trek. On the way, you will witness glorious views of Annapurna mountain chains, Ganesh Himal, Mount Manaslu, and the peaks of the Langtang region. As the day progresses, you will also witness the beautiful Trishuli river, local villages, and magnetic terrain landscapes. We will stay overnight at a lodge in Syabru Besi.

Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel (2470 meters): Overnight in Lama Hotel

While leaving Syabru Besi, we will cross the Bhote Koshi river via a bridge and follow the trail of Langtang Khola. We will trek through a forested trail as we ascend and descend in rhododendron, bamboo, and pine forest. You might also witness monkeys in the forest. We will trek for about 6 hours today before finally arriving at Lama Hotel where we will stay overnight.

Lama Hotel to Mundu (3550 meters) Trek: Overnight in Mundu

After breakfast in Lama Hotel, we will proceed trekking in a trail that climbs through a forest. While trekking we will get a view of Langtang Lirung managing to shine. We will also see some of the herder’s settlements, grazing pastures, etc. We will trek along with the lush rhododendron and pine forests and pass several small and big waterfalls to arrive at Mundu. You might also encounter local Tamangs and get a glimpse of their lifestyle. Overnight stay at Mundu with dinner and breakfast service.

Mundu to Kyanjin (3800 meters) trek: Overnight in Kyanjin

Our trekking journey today takes a religious and cultural turn as we hike to Kyangjin Gompa located at 3800 meters. On our way to this beautiful and venerated monastery, we will pass several Buddhist shrines, prayer wheels, and prayer flags. You can also take today as acclimatization day so that you have adjusted to the altitude and cold temperature before hiking to Kyanjin Ri. In the background of Kyanjin gompa, you will see several snow-covered peaks which further add to the beauty of this gompa. We will stay overnight in the peripheral lodges of Kyanjin gompa.

Hike to Kyanjin Ri (4850 meters): Overnight in Kyanjin

Today we will walk up the moraine in a venture to reach Kyanjin Ri located at 4850 meters. Kyanjin Ri provides exotic views of Langtang mountains and Langtang Lirung. After enjoying the sweeping views from Kyanjin Ri and taking some pictures, we will return back to Kyanjin to stay overnight.

Kyanjin to Lama Hotel Trek: Overnight in Lama Hotel

Leaving behind pristine villages of the Langtang region, we will trek through the dense forest looking at the Himalayas which are still pretty much dominating the sky. Today is an easy day since we will be descending for most of the part,  that too with mesmerizing landscapes all around us.

Lama hotel to Syabrubesi trek: Overnight in Syabru besi

We will trek for about 6 hours to return back to Syabru Besi from Lama Hotel. En route, you will relish the view of green alluring hills, rivers, etc. Feel free to snap some final photographs of the Langtang region. We shall stay overnight in Syabru Besi with dinner and breakfast service.

Syabru Besi to Kathmandu Trek: Overnight in Kathmandu

We will enjoy a warm and delightful breakfast in Syabrubesi before heading towards the capital. The 8-hour drive from Syabru Besi to Kathmandu is very scenic with wide arrays of the landscape from perennial rivers to occasional mountain view, dense forest, cultivated lands, uneven topography etcetera. You will be escorted to the hotel room where you can get refreshed and relax for a while. Later today, we will meet again for a farewell dinner that the Greater Himalaya team has put together for you.

Final departure from Kathmandu

We will bid our farewell and you will be escorted to Tribhuvan International Airport via a private vehicle or tourist bus as per necessary according to group size.
